We have stood alone in the culinary world, unaffiliated with any other organization in order to protect the prestigious nature of the award. The award came about in the mid-1980's when modern food was more critiqued for price, ambiance, and service.

Food connoisseurs are more concerned about the quality of the food than the work required to make it. Their ideas of dining out no longer rely on restaurant reviews, but rather word-of-mouth.
